Boise, Idaho – The Idaho Golf Association (IGA) announced today the enhancement of the Idaho Junior Amateur to a 54 hole championship. The Idaho Junior Amateur, ages 13 and up, will offer a 36 hole cut after two days of play, August 7-8, with a final round August 9.
“We wanted to elevate the Idaho Junior Amateur from simply a Tour Championship to a major event. The addition of a third round immediately brings the Junior Amateur into the modern era” stated IGA Executive Director Adam McCormick, of the reasoning behind the change. “As a 54 hole event, the Junior Amateur is eligible for WAGR points and enhanced status with AJGA and JGS rankings” stated IGA Junior Golf Director Cecilia Garcia.
“We are thrilled to be the host of the inaugural 54 hole championship and are excited to see the Junior Amateur grow” stated Falcon Crest Golf Club Head Professional Ryan Nielson, the host of the 2018 Championship.
