2021 Idaho Junior Am - Round 1

Without a doubt, tensions were high and enthusiasm roamed through the canyon as some of the best Junior Golfers around Idaho teed off this Monday Morning at Canyon Springs Golf Course. As the 15-18 boys and girls kicked off the 2021 Junior Am, you could tell that this year’s championship was going to be full of desire to win and compassion to play the game we all love.

The 15-18 year old boys set the tone for the day with a lot of players going red after the front nine. Sitting in first place, Wheaton Ennis (2024) went 4 deep shooting a 68 firing a total of 4 birdies. one-stroke behind Ennis, Trevor Garus shot a 69 (-3). In third, Ashton McArthur (2023) posted a 70 (-2).

Following the same lead as the boys, the girls came out the front nine with incredible scores to start the three day tournament. Your leader for the day, Carly Carter (2021), posted a 75 (+3) with two birdies on holes 6 and 16. Carter held the lowest score for the day on the front nine with a 36 to then finish with a 39 on the back to create a one-stroke lead for the day. Not far behind Carter, Maddie Montoya (2022) fired a 76 (+4) to sit in second and Hailee Cole posted a 77 (+5) sitting in third.

In the afternoon, the boys and girls 13-14 teed off with the boys and girls 10-12 right behind them playing the back nine only.

After a rollercoaster of a back nine, both Jack Bureau (2027) and Justin Krasselt (2027) decided to finish the day tied for first posting scores 35 (-1). Bureau had a very volatile back nine with 2 eagles, 2 birdies, three bogeys, and one double. Krasselt stayed steady by coming away with 2 birdies and one bogey. In a three way tie for third, Kyle Steidley (2027), Wyatt Williams (2027), and Nash Dancer (2028) fired a 37 (+1).

Tanli Lemoyne (2028) currently leads the 10-12 girls by a tremendous six-stroke lead firing a 37 (+1). Lemoyne finished the day with 2 bogeys and 1 birdie making for a very consistent day. Ella Wilson (2028), Anna Li (2026), and Ellyce Simmons (2027) are all tied for second posting scores of 43 (+7).

As the first round of the Junior AM came to a close at Canyon Springs Golf Course, the girls 13-14 showed us a beautiful day of a well-played round of golf. Currently leading, Chloe Singpraseuth (2025) posted a phenomenal 77 (+5) giving her a two-stroke lead over Melia Cerenzia (2026). Cerenzia went 7 over for the day shooting a 79. In third, Allison Shockey (2025) shot an 85 (+13).

Cameron Kuchar (2026) had the lowest score for the day in the Boys 13-14 going 1 under with a score of 71. Kuchar had a staggering 6 birdies giving him that edge in going red. In a two way tie for second, Justin Anderson (2026) and Benjamin Barrett (2026) are trailing by one stroke as the two made even par.
